These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the website located at this domain (the "Site") and any reservation requests or bookings made through it for accommodation at The Bitcoin Shepherd House (the "Property").
The Site and Property is operated by The Bitcoin Shepherd, ("we", "us", "the Host"). By submitting a reservation request through this Site, you ("Guest") agree to be bound by these Terms in full.
If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, you must not submit a reservation request or make a booking.
This Site operates a two-stage booking process. Submitting a reservation request does not constitute a confirmed booking. No contract for accommodation is formed until:
We reserve the right to decline any reservation request at our sole discretion, including for reasons of availability, calendar conflicts, or any other reason, without being required to provide justification.
Upon approval, you will receive a unique, time-limited payment link by email. This link is valid for 48 hours from the time of issue. If payment is not received within this window, the reservation will lapse and the dates may be made available again. You may contact us to request a new payment link.
A binding booking is confirmed only when we send you a written booking confirmation email following verification of your Bitcoin payment. This confirmation email constitutes the agreement between you and us and will include your check-in and check-out dates, the agreed price, and arrival instructions.
We may impose minimum stay requirements at certain times of year. Any such requirements will be clearly indicated on the availability calendar before you submit a request.
All prices are quoted in Danish Krone (DKK). BTC equivalent amounts shown on the Site are indicative only and are calculated using live exchange rates at the time of display. Exchange rates fluctuate continuously; the actual BTC amount payable is fixed at the rate applicable at the moment your payment link is generated and displayed on your payment page.
Important: You are responsible for sending the exact BTC amount shown on your payment page. Shortfalls due to wallet fees, network fees, or exchange rate differences are your responsibility. If the received amount is materially less than the quoted amount, we reserve the right to treat the booking as unpaid.
We accept payment exclusively in Bitcoin (BTC), via the Lightning Network — sent to the Lightning address shown on your payment page.
We do not accept fiat currency (DKK, EUR, GBP, USD or any other), credit cards, bank transfers, or any other payment method.
Prices quoted include any applicable Danish tourist taxes (turistskat) unless otherwise stated. Guests are solely responsible for any taxes applicable in their country of residence.
To cancel a confirmed booking, you must contact us in writing (by email reply to your confirmation) providing your reservation reference number. Cancellations are subject to the following policy:
All refunds are issued in Bitcoin only, transferred to a Bitcoin Lightning address you provide. The BTC refund amount is calculated at the exchange rate prevailing on the day the refund is processed, not the rate at the time of original payment. We are not responsible for any difference in fiat value arising from exchange rate movements.
In exceptional circumstances (force majeure, property damage, health emergency, or similar), we reserve the right to cancel a confirmed booking. In such cases you will receive a full refund in BTC at the original DKK amount. We will not be liable for any additional costs you may incur (travel, alternative accommodation, etc.) arising from a host cancellation.
No refunds are given for early departures unless otherwise agreed in writing before check-in.
You warrant that all information provided in your reservation request — including your name, email address, guest count, and any other details — is accurate and complete. Providing false information may result in cancellation without refund.
The maximum occupancy of the Property is 6 guests. The number of guests staying overnight must not exceed the number stated in your booking. Day visitors are permitted only with our prior written consent. Exceeding the agreed guest count without consent may result in immediate termination of the booking without refund.
The person submitting the reservation request and making payment must be at least 18 years of age. By submitting a request, you confirm that you are 18 or older.
Guests must conduct themselves in a considerate and lawful manner throughout their stay. You are responsible for the behaviour of all guests in your party. Unreasonable noise, nuisance behaviour, or any unlawful activity are grounds for immediate termination of the booking without refund.
You are liable for any damage caused to the Property or its contents during your stay beyond fair wear and tear. We may seek compensation for the reasonable cost of repair or replacement. We reserve the right to seek compensation in DKK or BTC.
Check-in is from 15:00 on the day of arrival. Check-out must be completed by 11:00 on the day of departure. Late check-in or late check-out may be accommodated subject to prior written agreement.
Smoking is strictly prohibited inside the Property and any outbuildings. Smoking is permitted outside in designated areas only. Breach of this rule will result in a cleaning charge.
Pets are not permitted at the Property without our express prior written consent.
Organised parties, events, or gatherings beyond the confirmed guest party are not permitted without our express prior written consent.
The Property is part of a working farmstead. Guests may access designated areas of the farmland and interact with the Karakul sheep by arrangement with the Host. You must follow any instructions given by the Host regarding the care and handling of animals. You accept all risk associated with interaction with livestock. Children must be supervised by an adult at all times when near animals or farm equipment.
Access details will be provided in your confirmation email. Loss of access devices may incur a replacement fee.
Guests are expected to leave the Property in a clean and tidy condition, reasonably comparable to the condition in which it was found. Excessive mess or soiling may incur an additional cleaning charge.
To the fullest extent permitted by Danish law:
We strongly recommend that Guests take out appropriate travel insurance covering accommodation cancellation, personal injury, and property loss prior to travel.
Guests may optionally submit reviews of the Property through the Site, including via Nostr (a decentralised social protocol). By submitting a review you confirm that:
Reviews submitted via Nostr are published to a public, decentralised relay network. Once published to Nostr relays, we cannot guarantee deletion. We moderate reviews before they appear on this Site but cannot control content published directly to Nostr relays by you.
We reserve the right to decline to display any review that we reasonably consider to be false, defamatory, or in breach of these Terms.
All content on this Site including text, photographs, the property logo, and the site design is owned by or licensed to us. You may not reproduce, distribute, or use any content from this Site for commercial purposes without our prior written consent.
The circuit-board Karakul ram logo is the property of its creator and is used with permission. All rights reserved.
These Terms are governed by the laws of Denmark. Any dispute arising under these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Danish courts, specifically the court with jurisdiction for the Aabenraa Municipality area.
We encourage Guests to contact us directly in the first instance to resolve any dispute informally.
If you are a consumer resident in another EU member state, you may also have recourse to the EU Online Dispute Resolution platform.
We may update these Terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. The Terms applicable to your booking are those in force at the time your reservation request was submitted. Continued use of the Site after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
